Thanks for the complements guys.

The leather is Amethyst Dakota (LCRH). Don't think it's available in the US. I hadn't seen it in the flesh so to speak so I was a tad apprehensive about ordering it. I was in contact with some of the forum members who had already chosen amethyst to try and get a handle on what it was like. Once that was decided, I reckoned Metallic Black was the best exterior to contrast with the interior. And so the story begins.

Both the black exterior and the amethyst is very hard to photograph as they change given the ambient light conditions.

Anyway, two more from the first few snaps I took.
If I get any more decent photos' I'll post later.

Nice. Was the car already built or did you spc it up? What are the options you got?

Did you have a 520i before? How do the engines in the 523 and 520 compare?

No, I spec'd it up and ordered in in mid-ish June. Arrived in Dublin on July 22.
Nothing too far out of the ordinary as I'm a great believer (especially when spending my own money) on only investing in what I'll get most back from.

523i, Steptronic, Sapphire Black Metallic, Amethyst Dakota Leather, 138 alloys, Auto-Dip Mirror, Sports Seats, Servotronic steering, Sports Steering Wheel, PDC, Extended Interior Lights package, Pirelli P Zero Rosso NON run flat tyres, Spare wheel and jack.

And thats her.

523i Vs 520i? Different cars. The engine is from another world. I thought the 520i M54 was smooth engine but this knocks it back to the dark ages. That is the main reason I changed from the 520i after 11 months. The servotronic steering is lighter but makes the car feel smaller. I'm driving the 523i the way I drove my E46. Throwing it around so to speak. And even though there is not much of a power and torque increase, it feels considerably faster. The 520i was more of a pipe-and-slippers mode of transport so to speak. Felt heavier and sluggish. Non RFT's - it's the way the car shoud have been supplied. The Bridgestone's (factory supplied) were incredibly noisy. When I drove it from the dealer for the first time on Monday, I thought they left out a rear door seal. I had to open it to see. Couldn't believe the noise. Now with the P Zero's - ah, the quietness and the lack of harshness over speed bumps and road scars. Nice. There is still some rear road noise but nothing like with the Bridgestones.

So - I would DEFINITELY recommend an upgrade. I got a good deal to change (I think) so I did. I certainly wouldn't have changed for another 520i but all the engineering changes - engine, steering, brakes, non-rt's - have, to me, made it a completely different car and worth it.
