Weird button

My Ride: 2005 BMW 525i A/T (E60)
2005 MBenz C200K Elegance
2004 BMW 320D A/T Exclusive (E46 F/L)

2001 BMW 318i (E46)
On my dash in the middle, just before the dash meets the windscreen, there is a grill (like a speaker housing) with a weird button sticking out of it. Can anyone tell me what that is for? Tried pushing it but it wouldn't budge.

I think its the sensor for the remote but not sure.

haha... I was reading all the other people's attempt to feasibly answer the "button" question and then I see this! haha
I'm pretty sure it's the sensor for the automatic climate control. Of course, I'm only 50% sure... ejection seat could be the answer since I've never actually pushed this button to find out... any volunteers?
