After I performed the ZF specified transmission adaptation procedure, I've been having a few problems, which seem to be getting worse. During the original drive, the car shifted into whatever limp-home mode gear is twice (along with the transmission fault warning), and died once. A simple restart cleared it up, and all was well. While the car was up for service, I replaced the battery with a direct replacement AGM, and registered it. I've since put maybe 100-150 trouble-free miles on it, and recently, I'm getting transmission faults and limp home mode, ABS/4x4 warnings, a check engine light, and hard starting more frequently, typically a mile or two after beginning a drive.
I ran a code check via Carly and came up with the following codes:
I'm going to start researching issues and faults, but if anyone can give me some advice on how each of these are interconnected and potential solutions, I'd be greatly appreciative. As a DIYer, this is my first vehicle with this level of computerized diagnostics and fault reporting. Now that winter has arrived, I need to get these issues taken are of ASAP, either myself or, if need be, through a BMW tech.
Was any other work done other than the battery. Was the battery cables connected correctly. Is there water/water spots in the spare tire well? Have you dropped it and rechecked your work?
I thought I'd update this thread.
The car has been sitting since the end of December, I haven't needed to drive it, and wasn't under pressure to work on it. I did some research of the codes, and suspected the crank position sensor. I'll be needed to put my back in service soon, and since it's around 5*F in my neck of the woods and I'm really tired of working on cars in the cold, I had it towed to a local BMW specialist.
Sure enough, it was diagnosed as a faulty CPS, so I had it him replace it and perform a transfer case oil service, and all is well.
A few multiples of bucks out of my bank account was worth the hassle and headache of laying on a cold garage floor this time around. Had it been warmer and I had my Scirocco out to drive, I would certainly tackled the job.
But, it's too damn cold, and I'm too damn old!
There's no way the CPS fixed the depress brake error. The two do not correlate. The CPS would only effect the DCS and cause the car to cut off while driving and or prevent the car from starting. Personally I don't remember working the CPS error because the immediate issue was the fault from the oil service. How did you get the car to the dealership which the brake pedal error.

I had the car towed to a local BMW specialist (non-dealer), but only because the transmission would shift into limp-home mode after a few minutes of driving, and I didn't want to chance it not making it there (about 12 miles on 55mph roads).
I've never had any issues with the brakes, I do know the brake fluid service is overdue, and I will tackle that soon.
I'll rerun my own codes again this weekend, the shop owner told me he did the CPS, cleared all the codes, test drove the car, and rechecked codes, and there were none.
Attached is the last Carly diagnostic report I ran before it went to the shop. I did not clear the codes before it got to the tech.
The car runs great, no warning lights, shifts and brakes great, no current issues.
I also replaced the battery (again), I had left my Carly adapter plugged in and let it sit, and the battery drained and would not take a charge.
Ok. I read through your initial post again. I forgot what the issue was. It makes since but the one thing I don't understand is the depress brake error. The CPS has nothing to do with the transmission functions. I'm referring to the picture you posted not issues with your brakes
I've been doing a lot of reading since I got home, trying to wrap my head around it, and it seems there are a large number of folks in my same situation, where a transmission failure is a symptom of a bad CPS, and replacing the CPS cures the issue.
Interestingly enough, when that warning came up, I tried to shift the transmission without depressing the brake pedal, but it acted normal. I could't get it out of Park without pressing the brakes.

jack car up in neutral and spin the wheels did you disconnect the park brake when doing the transmission service looks like its stuck on from some of those faults, just a guess tho

Eh?
The car is fine. The crank position sensor was the culprit.
