Since you get the rattling with the car stationary that should rule out a drive shaft problem.
I think the culprit is the clutch release bearing,(the small part in the pic.) Attachment 70887
unfortunately this means a complete clutch job, the parts won't break the bank but a tranny drop is required.
yes I was told that I need it a new transmission, but today they told me that even replacing the transmission the noise won't go away because what it needs to be replaced is the drive shaft. as I mentioned before I have all documents when I had my car in for that noise (couple times)and they told me it was normal. right now I am on cpo.. so hopefully they agree to replaced under those circumstances..

Let get something clear, do you have the noise when the car is stationary, or when you are moving?
Because if it's still there when the car is stopped the it can't be the drive shaft as that only turns when the car is in motion and would be there even if the engine is off......say like coasting down hill in neutral.

hey Phill, the S.A is saying that is the fly wheel.. but they don't know exactly, because also the transmission is making noises, the noise is when the car is shut off.. the S.A is saying that talk to Service manager and he was going to check as those pieces are not covered under CPO.. and also he was questioning because why are they replacing the tranny if the noise comes from the clutch so I don't know any more hehe getting frustrated again..
