Hi All,

Been browsing this forum a long time and need some help with my 07 530i

Driving home yesterday my clutch pedal was catching earlier and it was feeling a lot lighter. It finally got so light that I couldn't get the car into any gear. I ended up towing the car home.

A few weeks ago, I did a brake bleed on the car and based on my reading, the brake and the clutch share the same reservoir. Is it possible that I may have introduced some air into the system? Should I just bleed the clutch?

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Yes they do share the same reservoir. It's indeed possible/likely that the air found its way into the clutch slave cylinder or something. Re-bleed the system. It's either that or you need a new clutch, but sounds like you're not even pushing against the release springs.

I have an 06 with a manual transmission, did you find the culprit?

It was a bad clutch slave cylinder.

I went to replace it and then noticed that the line connecting the master to the slave was rubbing up against the transmission. I gave it a shot to try to bleed the system and blew out the line (I did check to make sure I installed the slave correctly as I have blown a slave because I installed it incorrectly). I've ordered the line through BMW but they said it would take almost 2 weeks to get here from Germany.

Slightly annoyed this happened at 54000 miles. Oh well.

2 weeks! That's odd, should arrive in 3 days!

He actually said 10-14 days. I assume he gave a large buffer to cover because of the New Year and anything other problems that arise.
