I think you US boys have the feature turned off. Can't be trusted with it you see (litigation) :P

You cant close by remote in the US you can put the key in the door lock turn to the right and hold till all closes

i think the poster means how to close it via the remote control, without inserting the key in the driver-side keyhole. my audi a4 (2002/8E) had to be vag-comm'd and reprogrammed to do it. after which holding down the LOCK button closed all windows and closed the sunroof. mike

I wonder if you can Turn the option on... any thoughts?

mlist84 05-03-2004 10:18 AM

no thought bout it. i think i just gonna ask my dealer about that soon.

Don Juan 05-03-2004 12:17 PM

YOu can notturn the option. US dealers are told not because of US regulations. Some dealers don't even know how to. I tried 3 delaerships with my E46 with no luck. The samewas reportes by other fellow bimmers... SUCKS!!
So no remote window close, no rear reflectors, WHAT ELSE!

DonJuan: Remote folding mirrors is another one I don't think Big Brother will let us have. Maybe they're afraid we'll squish our fingers or they could knock a toddler/short person senseless while unfolding...

If the open windows by remote is not working this means that the according car memory function/setting is currently disabled, pay your dealer a visit and ask them very kindly to activate it. :)

Usually the BMW's in Europe close the windows in the remote control when the BMW alarm it's instaled.
I had one with no alarm, it will open but not close the windows in the remote control. The other previous 4 BMW's (3,5,7) all of them with alarm will close and open the windows with the remote control.

GERMANY (and elsewhere): yes, you can.

U.S. and parts of Asia: nope, the feature is turned off for legal reasons. Lawsuits pending so the feature along with AUTO window roll-up has been disabled unless you know somebody with a BMW-factory MODIC and knows the codes. I am working on the codes now, I broke the codes on my Audi A4 and made it up/down possible w/remote and shitload of other convenience features.
