Can't totally disagree with this view. The price of the E60 is lower in the US relative to the the UK price, making the car more affordable for younger drivers. There is certainly a sizable segment of us who would qualify for the "Executive" type owner you highlight but there are more young folks here in the US that own the car.
The 3 series is more popular amongst the young here - one of my younger colleagues has just ordered a 3er - he was told that to drive a 5er would make him look more like a parent - not an image he was keen on as a young single guy about town!!

LMAO!! Maturity has nothing to do with owning a car in the U.S. When I was talking to my C/A last time he told me about a couple from California buying a brand new M6 for their 16 year old kid. That is just plain stupid. I had a stinking Ford Escort when I was 16 and beat that thing mercilous. Man I sure could of gotten some you know what at 16 with an M6.
Here for the general population they dont really attribute age to what series you have. It is more of an income issue here. The 5er's are viewed as wealthy not old. The 3er's are mainly driven by younger folks here because of the cost compaired to a 5er.

I find it "interesting" that one third of 5 Series (I assume in the US market) is bought by mainly aged females.
As for the household income I don't know whether that's a lot for the US or not but you'd be hard pressed to buy/lease a high-end 5er (given other commitments, discretionary choices and taxes) on that kind of income in EU.

I bought my E60 to differentiate myself from the younger crowd of E90 owners. With the boom in our economy, I've bumped into quite a few young guys in their early twenties who own an E60. Seems like most people here in Alberta are moving up the social ladder.

However, no question that in SOME parts of EU, 150K does not go as far as in the US.

BTW ABC, on my way to work this morning (Six miles only), I saw three E60s all driven by woman that looked in their 40s+
