was wondering if anyone has ever cleaned the maf before. i have a 2005 520d with 91000 miles and had the increased emissions flash up on the i drive and took it to local garage and had it plugged in, there were 9 error codes including clogged fuel filter and maf problem, so he cleared errors and i drove it for a week until he could do fuel filter in this time there were no more warnings and engine management light stayed off. However with the new fuel filter on it felt really sluggish for about half a mile then it was ok again, but still no warnings on i drive and no engine management light but when plugged back in at the garage it came up with the maf faulty again. i've tried searching but can't seem to find anything. thanks for any help in advance.

Yep, got a bottle of MAF cleaner from Autozone for $6. Remove the MAF with 2 screws, spray the crap out of the MAF with the bottle about 10-15 times and let it dry for about 30 seconds..... put it back and and you're done. So easy -- a caveman could do it.
