CIP, software upgrade, iPhone 1.4 and 2.0 and MP3 playback
#1
Hi, just got myself a 525da 2005 with Navi Business and Bluetooth kit.
Using my iPhone 1.4 works fine with address book transfer and incoming call, but there is a problem that BT dropping connection after a while - I have disabled WIFI.
I've found out in this document that BT support is improved.
Anyone can confirm that upgrading software fixes BT issues?
My CIP is very old - 2004-09 - around version 13. I don't even have MP3 support for my CD/DVD. Anyone got an upgrade and starting using MP3 discs? I am considering buy an ipod retro kit - but if I get MP3 support on DVD I'm not sure I will get it - its rather expensive.
A tip: I have also borrowed an iPhone 3G and version 2.0 stops working on most E60s (I think some 2008 models works). I dont think that a CIP upgrade will fix it. So dont throw away the old iPhone for a new iPhone 3G and dont upgrade it to 2.0 until Apple fixes this issues in 2.01 or 2.1...

I also tried upgrading iphone to 2.0 last night, and that did things even worse, no adrbook and it keeps disconnecting all the time.
BMW Norway told me they where wainting for a update on this.

I have a 2005 530da upgraded to newest cip last week, and sad to say same problem with the bluetooth as you describe is still there.

Have you tried to burn and listen to MP3 on CD/DVD after your upgrade? Does it work ok?

But as I said BMW is waiting for a solution to my car, and that could be software or hardware I don't really know.

I have mine unlocked and all that to. If you look at realcom.com you can see there is a lot of different partnumbers for the TCU. That may be the problem.

(1. Push down i-Drive knob for approx 8 sec
2. Turn right 3 clicks
3. Turn left 3 clicks
4. Turn right 1 click
5. Turn left 1 click
6. Turn right 1 click
7. Push down i-Drive knob
To get your CIP code (may be slight variations on the below):
1. Go to menu 'Versionkontrolle'
2. Scroll to the very bottom and you should something similiar to "I-05-09-510_050509",")
What software version do you got 525iSE? If we have to check TCU part number as well this is getting rather complex?
