Took my chipped 535d onto the track yesterday (East Fortune, near Edinburgh). Being the only diesel, and the heaviest car there, I think it did pretty well!?

Very cool video What was the light blue two-door car you were following most of the time? I watched the long video and I kept thinking you were going to get by him, but in the end he passed the dark blue and you did not have time to get around that one. Was it a Honda S2000?

Lotus Elise - unsure of the exact model. He should have let me past on the long straight - you can tell from the revs I had to hold back. There was another yellow lotus elise on the track (190bhp version?) that I wasn't getting past but then neither was he

Nice footage. Looks like you could have done with Hobi's gear shift paddles mod though!

I'm on the waiting list!!

Biggest problem was when dropping gears to slow for the corner, half way round the corner the car would go up a gear. So I get it into 2nd, half way round it goes back up to 3rd. I had to keep one hand on the wheel, and the other on the gearstick, so yes, Hobi's mod would be great! That, and maybe a remap for the steptronic or an SMG conversion

Were you approaching the limiter then to make it go back up?

If you were that high into the rev band taking the corner (which I assume you were taking pretty much flat before the apex?) why not just do the corner in 3rd and be bang on the torque for pulling away?

I was probably carrying too much speed into the corner. I felt the lack of pace with 3rd pulling out of the corner, whereas 2nd was right on the nail, albeit it wasn't long before a change to 3rd was called for!

I need to study the footage to compare the same corner in 3rd and 2nd.
