How many times did you just forgot that by opening the trunk lid might actually break your chin if you are standing close? I do sometimes as I also have an E90 which has a pretty decent mechanism for opening the trunk: It-does-not-break-your-chin!

Is there any other way to open the trunk??

Can't you adjust the rebound/lift of the trunk by turning something?

Mine is actually weight down now with the trunk finisher and vorsteiner spoiler.

Hmm.. If you can't adjust it, I would recommend getting the spoiler and trunk finisher.

Or just make sure to stand back when using the key fob, or just use the trunk button inside the car so you are nowhere near the trunk when it opens. But hrre's a thread regarding changing the tension...

ditto... got the trunk finisher recently, so it adds some weight and the trunk doesn't fly open as fast...

Question

I think a counter balance weight is a good idea ... maybe a 95lb stripper tied to the trunk lid would do it!?!

I let my wife open it for me as I've spent TOO much on dental work!! Seriously though, there are springs that can be adjusted to slow the lid down a bit.

You can actually adjust the spring tension for the trunk. If you remove the left side of the carpet panel, you will see a big spring and a row of notches that the spring hooks onto. If you move the spring hook towards the front of the car, the tension of the spring will be less so the trunk will come up slower, move it back the tension would be greater and it will come up faster. Hope this helps.
