You may have a hard time finding one like that without Nav. 545's come pretty loaded, especially sport package models.

I guess that is not a problem. I am just not going to pay more for something with an outdated Nav system. The car is for my wife and she wants the Sport package because she really likes the way our current car drives.

I wouldn't look at is as being an outdated nav system-- it's the same system that E60s have now and will have until the F10 rolls in 2-3 years. Besides you will get that money back when you sell it as most people buying luxury sedans expect Navigation. but whatever, if you can find one, great.

I have not driven one with the Active Steering yet.

Awful sport seats? are the bolsters too tight? I am 5' 10" tall and 160 #. My wife is 5' 1" and 95#. we both like narrow sports seats. they feel perfect.

Do they run on a DVD? can you update the Nav? There is a lot of construction around here and New addresses are popping up all the time.

Yes, the bolsters were totally wrong. My wife is 5'4" and I am 6' and the seats were bad for both of us. The active steering in that vintage e60 is just flat out unreliable. My steering used to to totally shut down. Consequently, I dumped the vehicle getting a great deal on this fab 550i.

Hmmm. Sounds like I need to get some seat time in the 545 cars with different options. For that matter I have not driven the 530 but I feel I would be unhappy coming from the 540 to that engine.

I agree with you on this. I just got a 2007 530xiT for my wife, it doesn't have the low end kicks like the E39 540iT that I drive. It also doesn't have the passing power like the 540 (Tiptronics). All in all, it's a heavier car with 50hp less.

But once the tranny is put on sports mode, it retains in lower gears longer and seems to pull much stronger. If you're looking at automatic car, the E60 definitely has a better Tiptronics tranny than the E39.

My 2 biggest complains about the E60: no dipstick and no temperature gauge.

I am sure the 530 would feel just the same with the Cruise on at 80mph but my wife said she really likes to punch it on on-ramps and when passing people. I love that girl!
