Check engine light " Increase Emission " - Help !!

Question

Ok .....i went in my car lastnite to go the club and i got this message that came up with the check engine light ......can someone explain what may be causing this ......pleasee !!!!

" Increase Emission "
Granted the car only has 45k miles on it , by the way its a 05 - 545i sport .

Make sure your gas cap is on tight. This is the most common reason. After that, the computer will have to be scanned to see what is failing.

Thats on tight ...just went to check , would my sprint booster be a problem but then again i had it on for about 3 months now with no prob .

Sensor failure, is my guess.

But if you have filled up with wrong gas the cat is gone.

Could be a injection failure (or sensor) problem as well.

I only use 93 octane at the pump ......hmmmmm but u got a point about the sensor , since it say " emissions " hmmmm ...

I think he means Oxygen Sensors... you have to run the ODB2 diag to see the code number of the issue or go your dealer.....

Same thing happened with car 3 weeks ago. As long as the car is still running OK, You should wait a week or so before you do anything.
My light reset within a week and has not come back. I assumed it was probably a misfire or glitch.
If you don't want to wait, take it somewhere that will scan the ODB2 codes for free to see what code was set and preform a reset. I can do it myself, but I've heard Autozone's do it for free. If the code comes back, then a trip to the dealer might be warranted. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow might be a waste of money, unless you are still under warranty. BMW electronics are very glitchy and quite often set false codes. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me last week, cars in the shop for it as we speak....05 545i sport oddly enough i drove it for a week afterwards and all was fine!
