Went and got a charger today, was wondering which volt/amp setting was best to put it on.
The battery charger has 3 option settings ---> 6volt 6amp, 12volt 2amp, 12volt 6amp.

It's probably a good idea, if your BMW isn't driven at least 10 miles a day, to use a battery tender to maintain the battery in good condition. The constant demand of the car's electronics, even when parked and turned off, "parasitic power drain". Short and infrequent trips may not be sufficient to return the battery to a fully charged state.

My tender is "automatic" and cycles off once the battery is at optimal voltage. I've hardwired it to the underhood terminals and that way I only have to uncoil a long lead and connect it to the battery tender. The lead snakes out near the headlight area so I can leave the hood closed and the car locked in my driveway.

Yep, the owner's manual comes in handy.

I need to replace my 2004 525i OEM battery. Negative terminal is easy to disconnect, but the positive terminal is beneath a few plastic parts and very rigid metal/cables. I don't seem to have access to the positive terminal itself. There is a nut securing the red cable above the positive terminal, but I think the positive terminal is 1 inch to its left.

Pls help.

The battery charger has 3 option settings ---> 6volt 6amp, 12volt 2amp, 12volt 6amp.
6V is usually for motorcycles, lawn tractors, etc.
Most, if not all, cars are 12V. 2amp is called either a slow charge, trickle charge or maintenance charge. Theoretically, the battery can stay hooked up forever.
6amp is faster and should NOT be left on indefinitely unless your charger is automatic that turns off once the battery is charged.
My charger has 2amp, 15amp and 100amp settings. 100amp is for a jump start or quick start.
Hope this helps.

I have a battery tender (the one sold by BMW (bought online without logo)) and connect to the battery as per the pic..
I close the hood switch with some wooden block (yellow arrow), so that I can lock the car and it would go to sleep..
