Has anyone had this problem: I use one of the buttons on the steering wheel to change radio bands, i.e. FM to AM to Weather Band to Aux to Sat. The button does not seem to work properly all the time.
It sometimes refuses to move from one band to another.
I guess this is something that only service can attend to, but I am curious to know if it's just my vehicle or if some of you have also experienced this issue.

I had that problem only once... just a few days ago. When it happened, I also got the dreaded "SOS Malfunction" error. In fact, I couldn't change bands with the steering wheel button, and none of the other sound system controls responded either! Couldn't change volume or anything else either with the steering wheel controls or iDrive controller. It was really weird and even when I shut off the car and removed the key the radio kept playing for a few minutes! I let it sleep for half an hour or so, then everything was fine. I get the impression with this car that if the iDrive system doesn't boot up just right, things are going to function a little strangely. Glad my car isn't the only one that's done something like that

Please check out my post "my disappointing 550". I can't believe I'm reading this just now. Sounds a little like one of my problems. Have them start with the key module, if not, have them shoot your diagnostics to BMW USA. They can do a more sophisticated analysis (on purpose), then your dealer can.

Good luck
