do I even have room for any kind of spare - or am I SOL?
Under the mat in your trunk [boot], you will have a wheel-well with a storage divider in it. Once you remove the storage space divider, you can store the space-saver spare

Dead and Gone, I was of the opinon that UK cars supplied with RFT did not come with a jack or wheel brace. Was your car supplied by a UK dealer?

It's true that most UK cars have not got the jack/brace. It is a ?75 option if you have runflats (most are runflats). It's about double that if you have to buy it later - as I found out!

I did go and check...and I DO have a small spare and a jack! So no problem there! Thank you all for the info otherwise.

On Friday, 1.5 hrs after picking the car up I changed to 19's with non RFT. Convinced there was a sensor in the OEM wheel or vavle or something, I made the dude remove the tyre from an OEM wheel. After much grunting and effing and blinding the tyre/wheel gave up its secret - there is not sensor at all.

We concluded that the system works on rolling circumference (or something) and dramatic, instant changes to same. In the manual; it actually states that the system will not detect gradual changes over time.

My 19's with non rft are the same ride if not better that 18 rfts IMHO (allbeit wqith only 1.5 hr of RFT experience). I guess what I am saying is that the ride is way acceptable and much better that my outgoing Monaro with 19's.

Cheers

What type 19" wheels did are you using?

If I order a UK car with the spare wheel option, for future use when I get round to replacing the runflats, presumably I don't get the wheel well divider. But does anybody know whether the well is still carpeted, so I can use it for clean storage while still running on runflats?

I pretty sure that this assertion is wrong. It surely detects gradual changes between manual iDrive system initialization.

OT but do you do when you have 20"s and also staggered do you plan to carry and spare wheels or not?
Can you fit in the trunk where the normal ones are.

Thx and made lot of search but did not find ...
I am planning to get rid of my runflats soon.

I changed to non-RFs a good while back, but it crossed my mind the other day whether I should not have informed my (UK) insurance company about the change... new tyres are exact same weight/speed rating as the old RFs. Any thoughts?

Here, usually, they are taking pictures of the car, so it can be seen later if the tires brand and model are the same.

My understanding is that it has nothing to do with iDrive data. The system simply looks for difference in rotational speed between wheels, so will not detect gradual changes if all wheels change at the same rate.

But it sounds as though 2007 models (from build week 9 2006) will have a true pressure monitoring system.
