If I change to non-runflats, I was just curious if I would still get a flat tire warning from the computer? Thanks!

Yup! The tyres make no difference! However, you ability to carry on driving is vastly restricted.

However, you get big gains IMHO in ride, grip and handling.

On Friday, 1.5 hrs after picking the car up I changed to 19's with non RFT. Convinced there was a sensor in the OEM wheel or vavle or something, I made the dude remove the tyre from an OEM wheel. After much grunting and effing and blinding the tyre/wheel gave up its secret - there is not sensor at all.

We concluded that the system works on rolling circumference (or something) and dramatic, instant changes to same. In the manual; it actually states that the system will not detect gradual changes over time.

My 19's with non rft are the same ride if not better that 18 rfts IMHO (allbeit wqith only 1.5 hr of RFT experience). I guess what I am saying is that the ride is way acceptable and much better that my outgoing Monaro with 19's.

Cheers

Thommo

RFA System works with ABS captors, which detect changes in the wheel circumferences. You've just to reset the system in your NAV menu after fitting new tires/rims.

DIY; under vehicle settings in the ''i'' menu. It calibrates/resets during a drive. Must be initialized when stationery though.

5er Sport, thanks for asking that question and Ozhaqqis and everyone else thanks for the replies. Next, question as it is raining here and I do not want to go out and check it...but, with my 545, do I even have room for any kind of spare - or am I SOL?

2 options. Buy an emergency 'foam' kit to get you home or fit the space-saver spare. (BMW can supply this - I have the part number if you need it)

Unless the car was specced with the optional space-saver you won't have a jack either!

Not sure if that is true as my car has run flats and came with a jack have also seen a new 7 series with runflats and that too had a jack + wheel brace...
