The rear left hand door in my E60 does not always lock itself when i move off in my car. All the others do, except this one. I then hear the doors trying to lock again whenever i move off from standstill. It probably happens about 30% of the time.

If i lock them from the key it ALWAYS locks, so not sure what the problem could be here.

Any ideas?

A couple of topics come to mind:
  1. I'm wondering if your door lock actuator is on its way to going bad.
  2. Not sure if the E60s have it, but the E39s had 4 fuses for the central locking system. If so, I would physically check, remove, then re-seat all 4 of these fuses.

It could even be as simple as the actual door lock pin just having trouble sliding up and down. I'd check that and lubricate it, but in all likelihood it is the actuator like Frank said!! Good Luck!

Child lock is on on that door, but surely this can't be it? can it?

i will remove it, and see how it goes. Then i'll try fuses and last resort the actuator.

Thanks guys

Oh no! I have made a call to the dealer and they said that
my bimmer is old and I have to bare the risk for the confliction of the ECUs after the updating which may be needed to be replaced.
