Hi guyes, im new to the forum since i just bought my 04 545i two weeks ago. Love the car by the way!

I noticed while i was cleaning my car one day that the cd changer was making noise while the car was off. Its like its switching cds or playing a cd type noise. Just wondering if any of you guyes have experience this.

Thanks

Yes, mine does that too. I've heard explanations ranging from "that's normal" to "you need a software update" to "you need a new battery." I too would love a definitive explanation! Welcome to the forum and to e60 ownership!!

Eric

PS I think we both should just nix those CD changers and get the iPod adapter!!

For my case, it was more of an indicator that my battery life was near the end.

I had a similar problem in my 06 E60...

To see if the CD is still 'playing' when car is off:
1. Play your CD before you mute it, then shut off the car
2. After couple of hours, put the key in the ignition but dont actually start the car - do not unmute either
3. Push your I-drive controller from main menu to select entertainment(use shortcut method i.e pull down for 30sec or so, entertainment will be selected) - do not unmute
4. You should be able to see the CD tracks and details - if the track timer is ongoing or CD changes with mute still on, then you have a fault
5. If under warranty, use your camera phone and record a short clip to show to you dealer/SA. If not under warranty, you might still have a case but not sure exactly where you stand with getting it corrected.
6. Likely to get a SW update to fix the problem

Other times, the CD/DVD unit does make 'noises' but nothings really happening(AFAIK)...

Good luck.

This is/was a known problem and was fixed as a component of 27.x Progman update.
