I am getting a cd changer in my car. I was under the impression that I would be able to get it in my glove compartment but my dealer informed me that I could only get it in the trunk. He said they stopped making installing the cd changers in the glove compartment in 2000 since they had a lot of issues. he also informed me that those changers were made by pioneer. They now only install Alpine or Blaunkpunkt (sp???). Is one better than the other? How is the trunk cd changer? It seems to be a pain to change cds in the trunk.

Hi

Your dealer said they stopped making CDCs for the glovebox in 2000??? The E60 was not even made then....... You sure your dealer is not on something???

FYI, BMW has a retrofit 6 disc changer for the E60 glove compartment.

PM me your VIN number and I can verify what part numbers for you etc..

All the Best

Hobi

Check out page 23 of the Accessories Catalog. Glove box mounted from BMW. That's where mine is...

kscarrol, thanks a lot. I gave the part number to my dealer. Now he changed his response and said when they first tried to order it, they got a message saying they stopped manufacturing those glove compartment cd changers. I told him to check again. Not sure where he got his info that BMW stopped making any glove compartment cd changers in 2000!!!

i think your dealer doesn't have enough knowledge on what they are selling. this car came out more than a year but they are telling you the cd changer is in the trunk ? time to look for another dealer .
