As Iceman has posted before, there is hope that those with a September build will be able to get MP3 later. Page 169 of the manual states,

"CD player and CD Changer*

Compressed audio files*

CDs with compressed audio files known as MP3 can be played back on the CD player."

Page 172 goes on to explain the operation further.

I cannot find any further info on the * disclaimer apart from it referring to Professional radio. No reference to business or professional Nav.

Yes. While not confirmed yet, MP3 on CCC (Pro Nav) cars is supposed to be enabled as of October/Week 40 production.

This could be totally incorrect, but we'll know soon enough.

I download a lot of talk/factual programmes, especially from the offical UK BBC Radio website. Most of these programmes are approx 30mins long and and 6-7 MB in MP3 format, so I can get approx 100 on a CD. In WAV format they are 200-300MB each, so I can only get 2-3 on a CD.
My interest in the talk programmes can be very variable, maybe only half of them,so I may skip a programme after only 5 mins. On a 4 hour drive I typically burn 5 -6 CDs which I then throwaway after one play.
If I had MP3 capability, one disc would last me up to 10 x 4 hour trips.
Yes I know I could get an iPod and an Aux input, but it would be nice for the CD player to read MP3 and have track selection from the steering wheel controls.
I would still like to use the CD changer for music - I can put up with variable/poor quality on talk programmes, but like higher quality for music.
Maybe BMW will get a software upgrade in time for Christmas!

Hi,

we'll see. My car will be build next monday (week 42). It looks like already some MP3/Nav Pro have left the factory.
What I'm more excited about (as I'll have my modded XBox with 160GB HD installed for MP3) is that the navigation system will allow speech entry of the address
