CCC idrive died
Hi- I own a 2006 E60 M5. My idrive ccc unit I think is dead. Started by going on and off while driving, now dark screen and control knob just spins--screen is dark. Obviously no idrive, phone, radio or nav. Everything else works fine and it drives fine.
I tried the 3 finger reboot trick to no avail---hoping the thing comes back on in the morning so I can at least eject the nav dvd
Here is where I need some advice--I'm planning on selling this car (twin daughters just got licenses so the beast must go), so looking for most economical way to get this CCC back up and running, But not looking to screw the next owner either--want it done right.
Here's my questions:
1) BMW refurbished for $900 or Ebay for $600
2) I can remove and install--looks pretty easy but does anybody know of any Indy's in the COLUMBUS, OHIO area that can do the programming
3) I see multiple part numbers for the ccc unit--I think mine is 65839123088--how do I verify this
4) does it matter what type of sound system I have---my original invoice says I have Premium sound system w/ DSP w satelite radio
5) any ideas on what dealer might charge for complete job
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all---Just replaced the clutch 3 weeks ago--
Thanks to all those that reply--Tom

RealOem.com will help you verify the Part#'s used for your car. It will also help you cross reference the CCC Unit Part # since it was used in many models across the BMW Line. That means you have a wider choice of units that will work in your M5.
Once you get the unit you need - you will have to have it coded to match the options you have in your car. EG if you have a CD Changer you may need to code that to the new unit. Same thing with SAT Radio; HD Radio; Digital Audio Input (USB ) et all.
There is a guy on the boards that does this work. You can reach him through this EBAY link. sedwilkins on eBay
