Default CCC dead again - reprogram used one or refurb?

HI All. It's been about 8 yrs since I've been on this site. My 2004 545i now belongs to my youngest son and I'm trying to get it through the next couple of years for him to finish college.

The CCC is flaking out again. Last time it died, I bought a used on from the wrecking yard and reprogramed it to my car using NCS "I think". Assuming that the laptop with the SW running on XP still will boot up and I can find the procedure again, I can pay ~ $200 for a used one and spend the time to get one going again. I'm a little leery of this path now as all the used ones are aging and likely to suffer the same problem sooner than later. But it's an option.

My question - is there is a reputable place that will take the CCC I have now and can refurbish it so I can save myself the hassle of relearning the programming? If there is, I'd appreciate a link or name and comments from anyone else who went down this path.

Thanks

There's a few companies on eBay that repairs CCC/CIC modules.
