My Ride: Possibly a 2007 525xi
2007 525xi engine swap
I’m looking at getting an 07 525xi at an auction in the near future. If I get it at a good price I plan on doing an engine swap on it. I was thinking about putting an LS1 into it and pairing that with a 4L60E. Is there anyone who has done this or has knowledge on this to tell me what I’m in for? Also would you guys recommend a different swap for this car? About how much will this cost and what are some major things that I should take into consideration before doing this.

Nothing really - just interesting that they don't seem to have the need for OHC and lots of valves.
Mostly Corvettes aren't they?

wow... what's the motivation here?
The money and effort here can get a BMW with a lot of horse power without the pain and suffering of making this work.

It is pretty easy. It will fit with space to spare. I am currently doing an E92 with a turbo. Custom mounts & driveshaft were my biggest hurdle.
You won't have any safety, comfort and electrical systems work properly. I would suggest this for a track or old car you won't mind setting performance over comfort.
LS1 Engine & 6 speed manual $2500
or...
LS3 (truck version) with 6 speed auto with cam making about 500hp $4000
Wires and Tune $700
Mounts $500
Custom Driveshaft $400
Install beer and a few friends...
You could have a very fun car with an LS1. It has been done so often it is a goto for lots of reliable power.
