Just curious what you guys think. I'm picking up a 550 on Tuesday and I can choose between two identical vehicles both with m-tech kit and m172 wheels in either carbon black or titanium silver. I've had a carbon black 530 for the past 3 years so thought the silver would be a nice change but it seems like the car doesn't look as agressive and sporty in titanium silver.
Any thoughts ?
Any thoughts ?
I know had black sapphire metallic with beige leather at it POPS!! If they both have grey interior go with the blac. If they both of black interior go with the silver. I like the contrast

I've had both. Black is much more striking, but only when clean. If you're OCD fuggetaboudit. Silver looks good all the time IMHO.

Have a black Mercedes which is a total PITA to keep clean. Swirls, scratches, shows everything, very unforgiving as you well know. Also have a silver grey 530 with black leather and I like it more and more every day. Never really looks dirty, minor scratches not a big deal. It is really nice not to be so anal about keeping a black car clean, to me they always like hell if not showroom shined. I do agree, however, that grey on grey is boring and think that the grey on black is a good combo. Currently using Mequiar's #7 Glaze with their yellow finish wax and the results are outstanding. No argument that every car looks terrific in black but there is more to life than cleaning a car. Especially in the Northeast, where there is always something falling out of the sky.

My Ride: 2006 Titanium Silver 550i, with all the bells and whistles!!

hmmm. very different colours. I had a similar choice to make, 2003 carbon black M5, or 2006 Ti-Silver 550. ok not similar at all
Ti-Silver is very easy to keep looking nice compared to a dark colour. I also think that Ti-Silver is sporty, so in my opinion, this all comes down to how much time you want to spend washing and waxing.
good luck, they are both great choices

My Ride: 2005 545i with everything

I have a black Range Rover and it's a PITA, shows every fingerprint and it's hot as hell in the summer. My titanium silver 545i always looks clean. I'll never buy another black car.

I considered CB.... very nice! I kept thinking back to when I owned a black car and how the slightest dust, dirt, etc. was visible.
Bottom line is your getting the 550. It's "sporty" in any color!
Enjoy!
