Has anyone noticed that the car will not start if the driver' door is open?

Typially I like to start the car to let it warm up a bit and find it annoying that I must close the door in order to start the car.

Yeah, I know, if that's my only problem....

Realtyman,

I don't have this problem. I've started the car with the driver side door open.

I wonder if it is an SMG "thing".

Guest - I'm not looking to Drive the car with the door open, just start the car.
If I am getting back out of the car right after I start it why should I need to close the door?
If I'm going to drive with any door open it will be the passengers side door. Hopefully you'll be out for a walk.

REALITY - What are you talking about. I don't see where anyone suggests DRIVING with the door open. He said DRIVER SIDE door open. And yes, you can start the car with any door open, all of the doors open, a combination of the doors, trunk, hood and everything else open. If yours does not start with the door open, take it uin for servicing.

Skipper - you are right. Never suggested it. I must have read it too quickly (and got distracted by the shouting). I'll keep my doors closed while driving.

But seriously, Not that it's a real problem, but so far the posts that confirm that the car can be started with the door open are not SMG. Looking to see if any SMG owners can start their car with the driver's door open.

I'm 99% sure I can start my car with the door open. I'll confirm the extra 1% in a little while...
