I would pick up a coilpack from advanced Auto ($45) and swap it out. #5 is really easy to get to. If it doesn't work, return it.

thanks bud, i did order an OEM one and it was actually cheaper, only 37 shipped.

Do i just remove the valve cover to access it? or do i need to remove all the plastic pieces by the windshield to get access to number 5?

just curious is it normal for coilpack to fail all of a sudden? and so soon?

Do you think the water might have cause the heater sensor to go south?
could dirty MAF cause the Misfire?

do you think coilpacks can go bad so soon, car only has under 42K miles.
That's crazy, I got a Cylinder 2 misfire months ago at about 50K.

Regarding the thermostat. Maybe you knocked it loose with the high pressure hose? Isn't there some sort of sensor in the bottom front, in front of the radiator? That's the only one I can think of that can be accessible via shooting water at from the front.

BTW, drive the car around and monitor the temperature. Hopefully it doesn't overheat with the P0597 issue.

help :
ok next time use a misting hose attachment.

you don't have to pressure wash it if you use Purple Power beforehand.

help :
My mechanic power-washed my older BMW (1987) and managed to wet the ECU of the car. The engine ran roughly after that and would stall. I remember reading in a Bimmer magazine about a similar problem and the owner of the car said that the ECU was the culprit. In my case, it was also the ECU. My mechanic had to use a hair dryer to dry out the ECU.

I don't know if the ECU is the cause of your problem too. But it may be worth a look.
