Car Smoking
#11
Turbo, I want to believe he didn't do anything but it wasn't this bad the week before I dropped it off. Process of elimination says it must have been something that was changed. Either the cooling system is somehow completely screwed now and leaking or gaskets were not put on properly. I honestly can't think of anything else.
I would have gotten the seals done but I had already spent $4.5k on getting the other work done and it was never this bad.
I have used liqui moly for the past 35k miles, had the car since 49k miles and got it in late Jan 2010. I gave them the oil also since he was doing all the other stuff and it was due anyway.

you replaced the following items you said:
valve covers, alternator, water pump, hoses, thermostat, coolant reservoir, oil, spark plug tubes, valley coolant pipe by AGA, timing chain cover gaskets, tensioner and belts replaced.
only thing i could maybe think of is that there is too much engine crank case pressure, forcing oil by the valve stem seals. but this would only occur if the valve cover vent tubes were blocked for some reason. remove the oil cap while idling. does the car smoke less?

The smoke has a slight plastic smell and they did tell me that I needed new CCV valves. I got those yesterday and popped them on. Nothing looked wrong with the old ones but did it anyway.
They did say there was a vacuum on the cap and I did have to pull a little to get it off. So that maybe it. EXCEPT it has been like that for at least 2 years. I'll take it for for a spin tomorrow and then try that out.

It smoked before but that was if I let it idle for 10 mins or so. Even then it was only when I stepped on the gas that there would be any smoke. Now its will do it just idling. Hopefully it's just the oil because I have a feeling that almost nothing I can say will make them admit to anything.
