I too had memory/key problems and solved them.
But after seeing these recent posts and having questions of my own, I am proposing that we as group do something bmw should provide for us in a book or web tutorial or computer disk.....
we need pictures (or drawings) of ALL the available screen menus in idrive including the options like phone, entertainment and most importantly the navigation menus. They need to layed out in order.
Questions regarding menus about keys ( thiscthread) would easily be answered. It also looks like the best way to clear confusion in these forums between euro and us versions.
I have a strong interest in seeing the menu tree structure in the navigation system. For example, where are the drug stores on the map? (they are marked as pharmacies and several menus deep). Bmwna was useless for this.

Push down on Idrive. Select vehicle settings. Push the Idrive up to get to the top row of options. Rotate know to select vehicle locks. You will see a setting here to go back to last position when either door is unlocked or opened. It can also be deactivated. This is a key unique setting. In other words each key can and does have its own setting and must be set individually to use. This is also independent of the memory setting on the seat itself which does not change based on which key is in the ignition.

Was in my dealer today to book my car in for activating the folding mirrors by remote and possibility of BFD activation. I asked about other possible functions with the Car/Key Memory. They had 10 minutes to spare so they plugged my E60 in to check what was activated or deactivated. So if anyone is interested, here's what's available on my UK spec E60.
Car:-
Recirculated air memory............................not active
A/C off with AUTO......................................not active
1-touch function,close pass. wind.............active
1-touch function,open pass. wind.............active
1-touch function,close driv. wind...............active
1-touch function,open driv. wind...............active
Mirror folding........................................... ..not active
1-touch function, open rr wind..................active
1-touch function, close rr wind..................active
Conven. opening, remote ctrl....................active
Conven. closing, remote ctrl......................active
Tilt sensor............................................ .....active
Interior sensor..........................................ac tive
Daytime running light ECE.........................not active
Auto. driv lights (set threshold values)......sensitive
Key 1,2,3,4:-
OFF memory............................................ ...not active
Fan correction........................................ ....not active
Flaps set value correction..........................not active
Anyone know what the Key Memory functions mean???
What fan? What flaps?
If anyone have further functions let us know as it would probably be due to newer software or hardware.
