Good work identifying the problem was the water pump itself. There's an old mechanics expression. Do what is obvious, easiest and least expensive.
Now that we know the pump internal electronics were faulty and keeping the pump on when the car was turned off, a logical question surfaces.
When the car was off and the pump was running, was it running on low speed? Medium speed? High speed?
If the pump was running on high speed and the thermostat was in the closed position, did the internal pressure put undue force on the oil cooler gasket, oil filter housing gasket, hose O rings, radiator, expansion tank, etc, that will make them fail prematurely?

I could hear a humming from the pump and you could feel water moving from the lines. You could also squeeze the lines so I feel like it was just cycling water water than full pressure would have. I'm not too worried about the rest just yet but we all know that the rest will have to be done soon; and they are all common bmw issues.
Also figure I should point out; the thermostat had the date 25/10/2017 on it. So the thermostat/waterpump were installed less than 2 years ago
Now onto my last diagnostic issue for now: the DSC pump/TC codes
