My Ride: 525d auto(2004)-SILVER GREY Options: Beige/cream leather, maple wood,Bi-xenons, PDC,heated seats......
Default

My 525d auto has gone in today for tests.
Been getting low mpg but since i did the reset of tranny things have improved a little. <mpg is 25mpg combined and max of 30 but i do drive in short distances.
The other thing i wanted them to check was noisy idle.

The thing is i have never driven BMWs b4 and this is a first. I notice that car is relatively quiet when started and when it warms up or when its been driven a good 30mins-1hr in the cold or 15 mins when warm outside it seems to clatter more for a diesel. Now diesels clatter more when cold but mine seems to do opposite. It sounds like a van or bus if i can make analogy but less nosier obvioulsy otherwise i would have given it back. That seems a bit strange to me until I was loaned a 1 Series today. You know how i must be feelin. A bit of a let down....but it was an auto mind you so no need to learn to drive again a manual....i mean for a split second. The car was also noiser on idle and it was a petrol 116i.
For a 1.6 it sounded very harsh once revved and no where as smooth as the 2.5d engine. It maybe me..do BMW engines all sound harsher once warmed up...I have driven Honda and MERC E Class b4 and both were silent even when warmed up...more so the I-VTEC 2.0 which sometimes i had to just make sure the car was still on since i couldn.t hear it sat at the traffic lights.

The other fault is the car is pulling to left. Whe i was driving car back home(116i) it went straight and more so to right than left and had a better steering feel..maybe cos it was new MY 09.

Just waiting for damage report....hope its not too deep and over warranty cap.
