Default Can't reset iDrive break pad maint.

Hi guys, I replaced the rear break pads and when I go to reset iDrive warning, it resets to -25000.
Why does it reset to a negative value?

I am following the procedure properly (I think)

Is there something I am missing?

Thanks

Did you also replace the sensor?

No I didn't.

Could that be the culprit?

Yes, you need to replace the sensors, whether the front or the rear, in order to reset the brake. Front is on the driver side, and rear is on the passenger side.

If your car said "time to change the brakes", the sensor did that. It gets worn through and you need to replace it.

Thanks guys. No the car didn't say that it's time to change the breaks. When I fixed my snow tire, I noticed that the rear breaks were borderline worn. So I did a proactive fix.

I will replace the sensor regardless. Thanks!

You can also use an ohm meter to test it:

Thank you everyone for your advice!
I changed the break pad sensor and I was able to reset it perfectly.
