Default Canadian Stealership is trying to rape me.

I recently relocated to Toronto Canada, Serviced my Car in New Jersey before the move. Engine light in the odometer pops up for the 1st time, so I try to book appointment.

I called several dealers closest to me and no answer...amazing. The 1st thing I noticed in Canada is the poor and limited service.

I finally get in touch with an SA's at one of the dealers and we booked an appointment for today. Of course I asked for a loaner and they said it would cost me 45 dollars a day plus a 20 dollar administration fee??? Then they tell me the engine light diag would cost $145. So right off the bat that $210 for doing something I use to get for free in New Jersey. I get a call and he says I need several other minor things fixed, and one major thing... he tells me my pump sensor is faulty and thats why my engine light is on, and if I dont change it I'll probably fail the emissions test. Ok so how much? He quotes me $1250.00 What is a pump sensor???

I wanted to tell him to get his dirty thieving hand off my car!

Does anybody know what the problem with my car can be and is it something I can I DIY myself. I told him to send me an e-mail on what part need to be fixed, so I should know more details soon.

If you're in the downtown area you may want to try Autotrend on Broadview Ave. Good, honest garage, ask for Don, they work strictly on BMW's.
