currently
I think the flat tire monitor uses the abs sensors to detect differences in wheel speed to detect a flat. You could add the TPMS monitors easily, but I don't think you would be set up for the detector part with your car. Let us know where you live and what vehicle you have.

There are aftermarket systems available - do you find that the FTM system isn't working well enough for you? A factory retro fit would pretty complex and probably expensive too - there are several antennas required, + electronics, and the tire mounted gizmos are about $200 + install.

That is what I would think, too, but why would it only have a FTM - maybe Canadian??

no.... thats my other vehicle.
i have an 06 550i. but i dont think that matters, does it? i thought all the older (pre-07?) e60's had FTM (flat tire monitor), and all post 2007 cars have tpms.

Correct you are, prior to 07 models all E60's were equipped with FTM instead, which for me works fine. Good luck on the upgrade, sorry I can't provide any assistance pointing you in the right direction
