My Ride: 2004 545i Automatic - Premium - 19" M166 - Logic 7 - No Nav
Default

Hi,

Alright... I called the dealer about yesterday upgrade. They told me they program the latest 2X.x.x something software and enabled bluetooth. NOW, the AS ask me "TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO FLASH OR UPGRADE" because they don't know what do to since BMW tech sheet says it is not possible to have MP3 for car build prior to 10-05. However, they are not saying "NO", they just don't know what to do. To their knowledge, the foreman said that they did the latest upgrade + encoding and they just don't know what trick they need to do in order to make my car accept Mp3...

Can someone point out exactaly what must be done so I can tell them ?

Thanks

After upgrading Progman, I think there is a box to check to enable MP3 play. This is done by dealer through their computer connection. Someone else here should have a more detailed response for you.

exactly as E60VTA says. When they load the latest software and tick the box for MP3 function, it will play. Mine is Oct. 04 and plays MP3 after reprogram last year.

There should be instructions in the BMW PUMA system

Olli,

Did they use 05 program on your 04 ? And what program is it? How do you call it, is it the CIP ?

Thanks

the software used to be called CIP and they now call it progman.
They only will have the latest progman software to load anyway. All they need to make sure, is to tick the activation box for the MP3 function. Just upgrading the software on it's own will not automatically activate it.

I was under the impression that you must have NAV in order to have the MP3 work. Is this still correct?

If you have the radio PRO (what you have with nav) you can have MP3 playback enabled.
The dealer needs to activate it by ticking the box in his menu. Once the car is connected to the dealers computer he can enter a huge list with settings, such as DRL, etc... Position MP3 needs to be checked by him, then saved and your car will play MP3's.
Latest progman/CIP seems to be 23....
