I'm sure if you were reading other posts and threads u saw that it was YES. DVD and DL DVD can be played in the NAV DVD drive, but not in the cd drive. I am a user of both MP3s on a cd played in the cd single slot and MP3s on DVDs and DL DVDs in the NAV DVD slot.

DVD/mp3s will not play in my DVD slot or, of course, its single CD slot. My car is mp3 capable.
Could you please clarify whether you're playing the DVD+R in your Nav/DVD drive, or are you saying that for cars w/o the DVD/Nav system, MP3s burned onto a DVD+R (using iTunes) will play i the CD drive?
Tx

aha the topic comes once again, i think for next model year BMW should PRINT the directions in the OWNERS MANUAL it really can be very confusing at times when you have two slots of single cds/dvds in the front.....like i said why live in the past ...CD's are so 80's lol (just joking) design and present the new iDrive iPod connector guys....QUICK...!!!

I'll do my best to summarize things since there is clearly confusion over this whole thing...
First, the media issue:
DVD slot can play CD or DVD media. This includes DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD-DL.
CD slot can only play CD media.
(I seem to remember that the drives do not like CD-RW or DVD-RW discs.)
Second, the content of the media:
DVD slot can be used for Nav data disc (obviously) can be used to play music CDs (albums you would buy in a store), and can play MP3 music files. CD drive can do the above except it can't play any DVD media. The in-dash CD drive also supports CD-text if it's available on the music disc. (I'm not sure if the in-dash DVD drive does this -- it probably does.)
If you want your MP3 discs to show full song, album, and artist information, you need to burn things according to the instructions in the FAQ forum.
As far as DVD video, you can't play them in the USA but I think you can play them in other counties while the car is stopped (correct me if I'm wrong someone...)
The CD changer can't play MP3's although I seem to remember a post indicating that newer cars may have that feature available to them...
I hope that helps although I'm sure it'll spark more questions...bring them on!
