I thought that the dealership could program the car to have the mirrors fold with the remote but my SA says that they never heard of it. Does anyone know any different?? If so, is there a bulletin number or something I can give them??

Thanks,
Jeff

Many older topics on this subject. Mirrors can be programmed to automatically fold for European E60s, but not North American ones.

Okay thanks but CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY?? It can't be a legal issue because my sister's Mercedes' mirrors fold with the remote. Another baffling BMW quirk that I am clueless to understand.

The same folks who decided that you can't close the sunroof with the remote somehow decided that this was a good idea as well. It is easily programmed elsehwhere, just not in US/North America. The systems are in place as the computer can open the mirrors as the car hits 20 MPH. No good reason for not having this option in the US well as far as I can tell...

You know what's really messed up? E90s can fold their mirrors yet E60s can't in the US.

I fold the mirrors everytime I park. It's automatic for me to hit that little button, just like it's automatic for me to have to turn off the vents everytime I start my car. Once I forgot to unfold my mirrors, but they automatically opened up after a few feet in drive mode. One of those little things that annoy us about our beloved e60's

BMW presents its car to you Americans ($60000 is a ridicolous price - for ?38k I can buy a full optional Mini CooperS, not a 5 series) and are you here to pretend folding mirrors ?
Do you know how many people here are driving a 520d with folding mirrors instead of a 550i without them ?

I wonder how many 550i you would have if you had to pay them $125k .

I'm sorry but all that went right over me.... your point is??
Just to make you even more annoyed JeffNNJ I had this feature activated just last week free of charge at my dealer while it was in for something else.
God Bless The UK!
