Can I just remove the dead Bluetooth unit without any issues?
I have a 2005 e60 and am trying to troubleshoot an issue with the iDrive (M-ASK) and CCC display
Checked the VIN and seem to have option 644 Prep. For. Mob. Ph. Bluet. Interf. and have checked the Bluetooth module in the boot and it appears to be the type without the fibre optic connectors to the MOST unit.
The bluetooth option shows up in the iDrive but wont allow me to tick the box and no bluetooth signal is noticeable from the car, making me believe the unit is dead.
My question is... can I just disconnect this module without any issues, or do I need to put some kind of connector over the end of the remaining wire in the boot.
Also, considering I might be thinking of putting in Android Auto screen to replace the CCC display, is it even worth trying to fix or replace this unit ?
I guess you save a bit of weight… do you have the SOS button? I don’t know on your car if this unit also runs that, you may get SOS errors in the instrument cluster if you aren’t already. Worth a try to unplug and see what happens.

Also wondering if this INPA info gives any insight? From what I have read it looks like loads of parts have been replaced over the years and not correctly coded to the cars VIN. Is this something that I should work on fixing first do you think?
this says a lot. the tel/mulf unit is malfunctioning. I dont think you can simply just unplug it without coding it out. but you can remove it and code it out if its not part of the most loop. but from my understanding these units are part of the most loop and you would need to keep the connection going. I had an issue with mine and I just used a loop adaptor and bypassed it. I have a carplay unit so that old tech is pointless to me anyway
