Thumbs up

I was wondering if there was a setting to have the trunk and the doors unlock when I turn off the car. I have the doors set to lock during driving (useful for L.A. city driving), but when I stop I find it bothersome that the doors and the trunk stay locked. I like to be able to go around to the back and open the trunk with the handle instead of pressing the ridiculous key fob for the precise amount of time so the alarm doesn't sound. (A separate panic button on the keyfob would have ruined the look?) Also, if I have stuff in the backseat I want to open the door without having to unlock the car again.

In my Audi the doors lock when the car is put in drive, and then everything unlocks when I turn off the ignition.

Thanks for the help!

I forget if BMW has that option. I want to say yes it does and it needs to be programmed by the dealer... but for me I actually dont like that I dont always get out of the car asap when I stop and although I never stop in unsafe parking lots I like to control my door locks. I like them to stay locked till I'm ready to get out.

European models will automatically unlock when you click the key fob to remove it from its housing on the dash. 99% of the time, this means that the doors remain locked until you are truly ready to get out of the car.

I agree the key fob trunk release function is totally ridiculous. So, I suggest getting in the habit of pressing the central locking system button between the middle air vents to unlock everything when exiting the car.

Mine will unlock automatically as soon as the engine is off..... I do not think this would be a US standard as it does not make sense.

I just called the dealer to ask them if it could be programmed to unlock automatically and surprise, the response was that if it's not in I-Drive, it doesn't do it. It would be interesting to know if anyone else here in the U.S. has been able to do it, preferrably with an 06 550i.

Thanks for the input!
