are you sure you had the exact same issue? were the stutters the same....and at these speeds normally?

if its the trans fluid....how would that cause the stutter? is that actually the trans slipping then? as the trans goes from one gear to the next....its still shifting smoothly....so why would it stutter otherwise? im just curious....i want to take it to the dealership but first need to get my dash all put back together with this CIC install (hopefully done after tomorrow).

can you give me the specifics of your problem and also how much the trans fluid swap cost you? it looks like a fun DIY, i should have all the tools, but i dont want to start it unless its gna solve the problem. my car is an 04 545i w/ 60k miles....

Just to give an update to my situation...

So it's been almost two weeks and I have not had this problem, while it's great, I still wonder why. While changing the transmission oil may help it could also cause more issues, BMW say it's a sealed unit, people have reported success and also that more damage occurred, so I don't know what to believe anymore.

To me I am still thinking it could be fuel delivery or timing or something to do with the engine. Perhaps cleaning the MAF would help. I will take it to my local Indy shop (Bimmer Sport) on Wednesday and see what they say.

So far so good!

I am no mechanic ( so bear with me )

I did have have the stutters on lower speed to higher where i felt the car was trying to go up to another gear .

I used about 6 litres
of http://www.kreuzberg-garage-shop.de/...oduct&info=159

I also change the pan and filter comes as 1 unit

my car is a 2003 e60 525 w/62k (auto )

Thanks Javan, so you had no issues after you changed the oil, pan and filter?

I will talk to my local indy shop to see if he can do the same. (wish I had the time to do it myself)

Cheers,

I thought the trans may have been the culprit at one point in time so i purposefully drove in manual mode as well at the same speeds....while in 3rd gear going from 20mph to roughly 45 mph the stutter still occurs.

also while cruising at 70mph to 80mph while in 5th gear ive also experienced the stutter....even while in manual mode...

Same here but only in 5th gear. Now the problem is gone, but not sure for how long.

did you ever have the issue reoccur? mine is constant....only present in 4th and 5th gears after extensively watching its behavior. i think it might be a transmission issue....but hopefully fixable via a software upgrade or reprogramming.

once i finalize my CIC coding this week, im going to get it into my local bmw dealership for a full diagnosis....

Hi, actually it never came back, it used to happen all the time here in 5th gear only. Now I am trying to reproduce, and nothing (which is a good thing). When or if it occurs though, I will take it to an indy shop instead of BMW. See what they say. We'll keep you posted.

Please let me know if reprogramming fixed it, or what BMW has to say.

Thanks

Has anyone had a similar issue with thier 08+ 550i? I seem to have a terrible dead spot like this in my car that is getting irriating.
