My Ride: 2004 545i Sport Pak
Brought my 1994 545i Sport Pak in for Thrust Rod Bushing replacement. Discovered these needed replaced because my complaint was that the steering felt looser than normal. After I got the car back with new bushings and 4 wheel alignment the steering feels looser than ever at all speeds. I like it nice and tight, I want feel the road, I don't want slop in the steering.
Is it possible to adjust active steering so I get that tightness back? (not really sure what the word is, but I feel like it more Buick steering thaN BMW steering)
Thanks Guys!

I think you meant 2004 not 1994, right? If so, there was a reprogramming in 2005 that increased the road feedback from the active steering. I have an early 2005 and had that done under warranty in 2006. It did make a noticable difference by tightening up the feel and improving feedback. I think BMW took a lot of criticism for all the electronic intrusions introduced in the e60 and this fix was part of their response to provide a more traditional BMW feel. If your car software has never been updated, then that might be the fix for what you describe.

lol, ya, 2004, glad I'm not as old as I thought!
Actually, it was quite perfect until recently. Maybe it's just the tires getting thin? But if it is possible, I would like them to tweak it so it the steering is firmer. I think I've had all the software updates, but, yes, how do you know for sure?
