i took the adapter off of the bottom one and it does connect to the other, but i get the feeling they were meant to connect to a module. I'll take better photos in the coming days.

Is that the drivers side? If so, I think those are related to what can live there: SAT Radio, HD Radio, etc.

it has "mobile phone prep" and "bluetooth prep" but i thought those things were in the TCU. did they come in a sep module in 9/04?
without having sat radio prepped, could it actually be pre wired like that? i dont have sat prep in my vin.
would love it if it was...

so since it is prepped, if i buy the module off ebay that is correct, i can just mount it, plug it in, and then have it coded to show in idrive... then call sirius and activate?

As you suspect, I'm sure as a minimum you'll have to have some coding to note the existence of the module. Use Google to search for people that have added Sat Radio to E60. There are some detailed threads to be found.

Yes, but dealer like to make money... If you install it yourself and all they have to do is program then it's one hour labor and they will find something wrong or have a problem with something to jack up this rate for more money. It happened to me and someone else I know. Maybe you get lucky and don't have the problem. By the time they were finished with theit nonsense I could have just had them install the entire thing... Better call and check for details before you waste time and money.
