Cabin - Engine noise filtration after oil pan gasket replacement

Hi guys.

I have a 2005 M54 525i E60. A couple of days ago I had the oil pan gasket replaced to fix an oil leak I had. I try to do most of my car repairs myself however given this is a relatively big task that requires a lot of work, I decided to go with an independent mechanic who does work on M54s and just BMWs in general.

Everything went fine and there is no longer an oil leak, however I now have a lot of engine noise filtration into the cabin, it seems like its coming directly from the firewall but it is loud. Its kind of hard to explain. Tomorrow I'm heading back to the shop to see whats up but I was wondering if anyone has had this sort of issue before.

I inspected from above as best as I could and do not see anything out of the ordinary. I even removed the cabin air filters and put them back on just to see but no real difference. I know the AC/Heater vents etc etc are all on the firewall and was wondering if maybe something got unsettled and popped out.. not sure.

I want to have at least an idea before heading to the shop.

Hi,

Just came across your thread. I have exactly the same thing: increased engine noise in cabin after oil pan gasket replacement. Did you ever resolve this?

Thanks
cinergi
