does anyone know how to do this without having to fasten the seatbelt? i know safety is important and it's the law in new york city but once in awhile i like driving without the restraints.

I don't believe their is away, but I like the warning because it reminds me and with that annoying chime, a couple of months ago I was still cited for no seatbelt
I was leaving the gym and right went I drove off the drive way of the gym the cop pulled me over - he said "it's national seatbelt week" = $85

PS
I have kids and they need to be reminded to put it on

Please people USE that annoying thing called seatbelt. It just might make your day. We have fellows in the forum who know the by own experience how important seatbelt is.

Maybe it's not cool to use it, but dead corpse does not look cool either.

PS. lost 3 friends in one accident and they also thought that is was not cool to wear seatbelt.

If I was really motivated to do this, I would hook the belt, get in and sit on it.

The tech guy at the dealers said, the seat belt warning can only be disabled on X5. If I was really keen he would give me a spare seat bel clasp which would fool the computer. Other option is to slot the passenger side seat belt into the driver side receiver - provided you are driving alone.

the seat belt warning is really not that big a deal to me.if i can bypass it from the computer that would be great but i can't.

the warning is annoying enough that i just put my seatbelt on to stop it. if BMW meant this to be a forced way to wear your seatbelt, hence the aggravting warning sound, it's working!

I just wonder why my 5 chimes and has a warning light, the x3 just has a light and the brand new 3 convertible they gave me as a loaner today has nothing at all?

They care more for us fivers than the three-ers and x3ers.
