Auto mode only sucks in stop and go traffic when your on the highway throw it in auto mode and switch on your sport mode if your car
is equipped with it. If your in auto with sport mode on the reponse is amazing
You Sir are
SMG is so much faster than a human can shift in manual!

Re SMG, I've only driven them briefly. I would own one but I don't know why BMW couldn't make it smoother in auto mode. Many folks can smoothly shift a manual so a computer should be able to.
Interestingly the Sport Auto although smooth shifting most of the time, is quite abrupt in the 2-1 downshift when coming to a stop in full sport mode. BMW needs to refine that.

When the CAR shifts you are not as prepared for the shift so it appears that you feel it more.
If you are a true SMG enthusiast, you would not even consider the auto-mode as anything more than a spouse-mode or valet-mode.
My current car's Sport Auto does not have an abrupt 2-1 downsift.

I think it was Kraft Singles, which left everyone standing around with a nice, thin slice of cheese, but also an uneven hunk of bread. It was only a matter of time before the idea to use the same slicer on the bread revolutionized the concept of lunch as we know it.
