burning smell when accelerating hard

Default burning smell when accelerating hard

my car model is bmw e60 530i ,
M54B30 engine model ,burning smell when accelerating hard ,first i check the valve cover ...and valve cover gasket no leaking oil, after i think the exhaust manifold gasket leak, and i change a new exhaust manifold gasket ,and the outside cabin filter that hole ,i also gum already ,don't give the air going into the car ...but also same....when i hard accelerating will burning smell ,sorry my english.not very good ,hope u all understand what i talking..

the following areas are very common sources of oil leaks in M54. If you're smelling burning, it's likely oil.

-valve cover gasket and ignition coil seals
-oil filter housing gasket
-CCV system and hoses; they deteriorate and allow oil vapor to enter the atmosphere
-rear main seal (mine's leaking now)

I'd check all of those for leaks. If you've never done an oil filter housing gasket, I can promise you it's leaking right now.

My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.

+1, I had a similar issue with a little seeping from the valve cover gasket and after car warmed up i would get a little smell. There was NO WAY I was going to put up with this oil smell ruining my BMW car smell! Ah, ended up being the valve cover gasket and after replacing all was ok.

Mods include: M5 rear bumper, custom exhaust with quad tips, M5 wheels, M5 steering wheel & shift knob, MTech front bumper and rocker panels , LED tail lights, RD Sport short throw shifter, ESS Stage 2 supercharger system with air/water intercooler

It could be your clutch slipping and burning. I just had my clutch replaced and a burning smell during acceleration was one of the symptoms.
