What year (or build date) is your car? There was a recall years ago that dealt with the seat heaters burning through the leather. If your car falls under the recall, you might be fine. If it doesn't, then you might not have put things back together properly...

ok' i have been told that it was recalled in 2005, bmw told me to bring the car in to them to have a look and they will tell me if it can be sorted under the recall, thanks for you advise, this forum is great!
Also, I'm curious as to what you took apart and put back together -- did you actually remove the seat cover and mess with the areas where the heating elements are?

Did you call the dealer or BMW? Either one should be able to tell you if the car falls under the recall without the need to bring the car to them.

my car is a 53 plate 2004 registerd 530d mat black, how do i ad my car details to my profile? pls
Click on "my controls" (upper right screen). Left side menu, Under personal profile. Most members post their e60 specs in the signature. To go there click "edit signature" (under personal profile). Also under "edit profile information" there is a text bar for "my ride"
