when they say powdercoating MAY mes up the structure of some cheaper wheels and powdercoating powder cures at about 400F, burning at almost 1000F will most likely destroy the structure of the bonds.

Huh, $3-500 for 124s w/ good tires? Fuggetaboudit. Maybe if they're curb-rashed, cracked, and the cheapo tires are worn out.
Or, if they're stolen, of course. There are two sets on e-Bay right now--one is BIN $1299, the other is $1500 OBO. You're looking at $1000-$1100 at least for clean wheel with quality tires.
