hey guys, someone hit my car while i was parked. The paint came off on the front bumper. Its deep enought where you can see the black clearcoat. What is the best fix for this? i am not trying to shell out a lot of money to get this fixed. Would touch up work? take it to BMW? I dont want to get my insurance company involved.
Anykind of help would be appreciated.

I have nearly identical scratch on my bumper, in the same spot.
I am likely taking it to my body shop and having the bumper reconditioned...they quoted me $700. OUCH.

Sorry to see this ! By the looks of it you need to get the while bumper repainted. You can see if a body shop can touch up and buff out but it won't be right (especially if you are fussy ) Alpine White is quite forgiving though.

if you are a good DIY type of guy you can try sanding down that area with 1800 grit or so then paint with touch paint sand it 2400 grit paper wait until it dries and use a mediut cut polish then wax it, there is a diy on fixing little dings like this online

+1 white in general is a forgiving color. its just the paint and scratches right? and if not touch paint, and if some small dents or anything, then id agree with the whole bumper needs to be repainted/reconditioned. good luck with that. sucks that it happened in the first place though.

Don't mess around, get it repainted and put a clear bra on... that is what I am doing next!

I had something similar happen to me on my back bumper. I used a little Meguiars ScratchX on the light scratches and then used a kit from Dr. Colorchip to fill in the deeper scratches with pretty good results. I figure it's going to happen again so when I finally get that big scratch/ding I'll have the whole bumper redone. In the meantime, the scratches are hardly noticeable now.
