The garages sell bumper diapers at about $350 each. They look horrible but if you live in the city there is no way around it. I live 40 minutes away and will only take the train now. My 528's bumpers got trashed, when I turned the car in BMW did not charge me for it.

do you have any pictures or links for those protections? i live in the city and altough the bumpers look great body coloured its virtually impossible to keep them unscratched, so i am very interested in buying something small or discret for them

Check out pics of my car's clear bra installation. Including bumpers. Scroll down to find the links.

I have the clear bra on the front bumper, but I believe the first count will go to the trailer hitch and not the clear bra.
Now it can probably take a bump OK from a smooth bumper, but I imagine the original bumper would hold up fairly well, too. If people are jamming license plates and trailer hitches at you, something padded would likely give the best protection, IMO.

Does anyone know of a good place in the NYC / Long Island areas to apply the clear bra? Definitely does not look like something I would want to try at home!
